Activate Your Greatness by Alex Toussaint

inspiring reflective fast-paced

4.5

Again, I have a difficult time really being critical of memoirs, as I think it takes an unspeakable amount of courage to put yourself out there in writing.

I was a bit unsure at the start of the book how I was going to feel in the end. Alex, while an inspirational figure and my favorite Peloton instructor, is not a writer, and I thought the structure was a bit... off.

However, the "I Can't Breathe" chapter had me in tears at my desk and was one of the best thought-out, most raw, and honest assessments of self I have ever had the pleasure to witness. AT is very wise and is not afraid to turn a critical eye on himself. I am so proud of him and am proud to be a fan of his. Not all people in spaces of influence take the time to do an assessment like this and take those scary steps forward. Many are ok with being comfortable and safe. I admire AT for not allowing himself to settle into that mindset. (Now, if Peloton would put the June 5 ride back up...)

A short, but great, memoir.
