Only because I have to express my ick about this volume, slight spoilers will be mentioned.

This volume takes Nick and Charlie’s relationship to the next level with intimacy. And I think the topic of mental health greatly overshadowed the topic of sex and soul ties. I think both are equally important and I was not a fan of how light and fluffy they made sex out to be. I think as high schoolers the hormones are raging and there’s no controlling it and for something as simple as a condom to just be expressed I find to be really under educated. I would think with Charlie’s mental health the topic of sex would have been a much greater weight than it was in this story. Or even Nick with his what seems to be separation anxieties.

Charlie’s mom started to express her concern but even then as a parent it was like mmm study for your tests then you can have a sleepover lol like why are we treating a sleepover with our partner like we’re just going to get ice cream and I want sprinkles. And then Nick’s mom was like oh sure yea you can have a sleepover lol whoooo the f even calls it a sleepover with their partner in highschool? No one !!!

Even though this story is about normalizing relationships, it still should also normalize the weight sex can bring. Just because 2 boys can’t get pregnant doesn’t take away from a very serious action they took.
