This is the second book of the Strange the Dreamer series and it honestly has exceeded my expectations.
After falling in love with the first book, I was slightly wary of the second book as I wasn't sure it would live up the the first. Boy was I wrong.
The book starts with the story of Kora and Nova, who's story melds into the story of Lazlo Strange and Sarai as left off in the first book.
This was a thrilling story and much faster paced that the first book. I was gripped from the first page to the last and finished this is a quick two days!

This book has you reeling with different emotions throughout the whole book, particularly anger for me personally. My heart ached as I read this as you realise that the “evil characters” have their reasonings for their actions, which is a common theme between this book and the first one. It is highly complicated and makes you realise that evil and good aren't as black and white as it may seem.
One of the reasons I fell in love with the first book as due to the fact that I loved the main character, Lazlo Strange, but in this book, he isn't as forefront as he is in the first book which was a little disappointing. However the book was still amazing despite this.
Additionally, the book was rather fast paced compared to the first book. I would even consider it quite rushed, especially nearing the end. I remember being 100 pages from the end and wondering how on earth everything could be concluded within 100 pages.
Due to the fast pace of the book, I also felt as though you couldn't fully connect with the characters as much as you could in the first book. If you haven't read the first book (which I highly don't reccomend skipping), you would have very little connection with the characters, especially those that appear in both the first and the second book. I wasn't as fond of the characters in this book as I was in the first.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was incredibly gripped. Though I did feel it was slightly rushed, I was extremely happy with how it concluded though I do think that it is essential to read the first book before even considering reading this book. However, I felt anger throughout so much of this book that I actually felt discomfort reading it as I just felt so much hatred for some of the characters.
