What an unexpected pleasure!! I knew what this book is about, but it was nothing like I expected. The narrator's performance gave extra depth to the characters and I just loved it. It's historic but still current, the characters are very believable, the protagonist is an actual kid. The story in endearing, horrifying, funny, nostalgic. No words and not enough words to sing my praise of this book.
