The Dead of Night by John Marsden
2.0
This book is not good. Firstly, the pace is SO monotonous, which means there's next to no tension built up during the reading experience. The premise of the plot is good but there's been little care or skill in delivering it. There are so many holes in the story that you have to actively not pay attention to avoid them.
Also - how anyone could be calling this a good depiction of a strong female lead is beyond me. You can't mention tampons once and think you've done something for women. Ellie is wildly annoying and, like all the other characters, has no depth and is a walking, talking stereotype. This series contains every possible trope that exists and thinks that it's "asking questions of the readers". Maybe if that question is 'when will this book be over?'
