*Cue Duck Sauce's banger*
I had not previously known of Barbra Streisand's pet dog cloning adventures.
Felix DiMaro's short story, In Darkness, Eyes And Teeth, kicks off from that piece of newsworthy pop culture/sci-fi.
Thank you to the author for my eARC for feature and review!
The long and short of this short story is, it's wicked!
Madeline has been mourning the loss of her beloved cat, Padmé. She's searched high and low for someone to clone her deceased kitty, give her back exactly the pet she has missed so much. Madeline's son and husband think she's a bit batty, but whatever keeps her happy.
Enter Gene Genie Genetics to make her dreams happen!
There are red flags along the way that can be explained away. Until they can't anymore.
I loved the tone of this story - darkly humorous, eerie, and violent.
The end includes DiMaro's essay, "The Cost And Consequences Of Cloning Your Pet", also a fun read.
Recommended!
For release on April 24.
