I went into this book blindly and honestly I think that for me personally, it was the best way to get into this book.
Anyway, let‘s talk about it. The first thing I want to say is that I loved the representation in this book. Not only do we have gay characters, latinx characters but also trans characters. And representation truly matters, so this is so important and truly made me love the story even more. It‘s important that queer characters aren‘t only the side characters in books, tv and movies but that the story is theirs completely as the main characters, so thank you Aiden Thomas for this because it really matters.
Now to the story, I absolutely loved every second of it. It‘s much more than just the plot, but also the things that it stands for. I am not going into detail about what happens in the actual story but I can tell you that this is about someone just wanting to be accepted by their family and community. It‘s about being your true self and being loved for who you really are. It has everything you could possibly ask for, romance, friendship, drama, action, self-discovery and culture.
Also Aiden‘s writing style is absolutely perfect, especially for books like this. I felt like I really was there with the characters all the way through the book. It was so easy to read and enjoyable to read as well.
I know that if you see the reading dates that it doesn‘t seem like a quick read but don‘t let that fool you. I was in a bit of a reading slump whilst reading this book, but that wasn‘t because of it, but because I had been working, studying and sleeping nonstop. So please don‘t even pay attention to my reading dates.
