Riley Sager is an auto-buy favorite author of mine, so of course I've been waiting with bated breath for this novel. Maybe I hyped myself up for it too much. I liked it, but I didn't love it. I wanted to love it. I wanted it to be a 5 star read, but it just didn't land. Don't get me wrong, it's a great book and a solid 3 star read.... it's just, not my favorite of his. A ghost story within a ghost story, that got too tangled. I wanted more from the Hawthorne Institute and less from Ethan, but got the opposite. Some good twists and turns to keep me reading and guessing, and an excellent execution of narration. Overall, a good book that just didn't meet the sky-high expectations I have of Sager.
