I loved Charlie and Paul's story, even if their journey together wasn't easy.
Both of them were dealing with trauma and loss, both of them lost their family, both of them were alone and in a bad emotional place.
Charlie never experimented true love, Paul had that, but he lost it. They had different experiences, that made them insecure and scared. I loved how the author didn't make them immediately jump into a sexual relationship, instead they spent a lot of time together, getting to know each other.

Despite all the genuine feelings between them, though, they couldn't handle the truth: Paul was too scared to lose Charlie and Charlie was still so convinced to not be lovable that didn't let Paul explain his story.
But even with their flaws, Paul and Charlie still find their way back to one another.
They don't love each other because they think they deserve it, they love each other because they cannot avoid it: their love is big and strong and intense, it's there, between them and it's inevitable. Their love will help them learn from their mistakes, do better and be each other's family.

The whole story of Trey's death was very very painful to read and I wish Trey had simply run away.
Luckily, the epilogue was very beautiful and the book left me with happy tears.

I absolutely recommend it.

Edit
Recently I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook: it was amazing, Tristan James did a remarkable job bringing Paul and Charlie's emotions to life.
