Delivered: Angel & Kai by Raven St. Pierre

emotional hopeful inspiring reflective medium-paced

4.5

Kai and Angel are just lovely. This is a deeply emotional journey of healing and trusting for the both of them, and handled delicately and believably by Raven. The writing in this story is incredibly tight - well edited and technically sound, which is rarer than you’d think in the romance novel sphere. Add to it delicious chemistry and smut and genuine emotional range? Truly delightful.

This was also a true standalone. I haven’t read the rest of the series and didn’t feel like I was missing anything of the context. Without resorting to a wall of exposition, Raven managed to work in all the necessary backstory and leave us satisfied and not confused.

No spoilers, but keep tissues handy. This is NOT angsty or dark, but it is emotionally heavy in terms of some subject matters and the empathy the characters evoke in their struggles. Total HEA.
