Gnawing at the bars of my enclosure. I loved this book. It was such an easy, fun read. Hockey romance books are my bread and butter, and this didn’t disappoint! Hannah and Garret are one of my favorite new book couples! I think they complemented each other very well and felt like they were the perfect blend of bickering and understanding. The characters really made this story for me, and the plot was good if maybe a little cheesy but that's perfect for a romance novel. I also think the traumas were handled with some care and you could really see the impact they had on the respective characters without being just told and written off. My only qualm is I don't like how Hannah said she was fixed after the scene (being vague to avoid spoilers) and she didn't need fixing, her reactions were totally valid and understandable. Overall, I loved the books and the characters this was the perfect book to start off my 2025 reading year!
Moderate: Child abuse and Rape
I used moderate for the tags because while it doesn't go into super descriptive detail it is mentioned from start to finish and is a constant thing that effects the characters! The abuse is briefly described in the chapter set during thanksgiving where he talks about what happened in each room. The rape is mentioned throughout and is a big part of why Hannah struggles with intimacy and relationships, no graphic descriptions but she does talk about what and how it happened.
