This is my first Becky Chambers book and, wow, I get why people love her work! While for most of this novella I thought it was just a cute story with cute characters and some lines of dialogue that made me think, by the last couple of chapters I found my eyes stinging because the things that Dex learns struck me hard. I doubtless read this at the perfect time in my life. This book doesn't quite feel like a warm hug; it felt more like a friend sitting quietly beside you with their arm hanging loosely around your shoulder. Definitely excited to read more from this author!
