"And all five candles snuffed out at once."
It was such a lovely, fantastical story. The worldbuilding was simple but good and complete, we have a very good perception of it. The characters were interesting and strong, the romance between Elisabeth and Nathaniel was sweet and perfect - and Silas stole the show.
He definitely was one of my favourite characters and *I knew* he would survive and become Archon, I *knew* he would be summoned at the very end.
Besides a sometimes simple and uninspiring writing style, the main flaw is how predictable the story was - Ashcroft being the bag guy was obvious before he had even showed up, just his name was enough - and so was the ending with Silas' sacrifice and hinted return...
I do wonder though, where the story will go from here, as it seems quite completed - unless Silas, the new Archon, might become the next bad guy?
