Hav by Jan Morris

4.0

Charming travel book about a place that doesn't exist. I loved how she described Hav as an aggregate of history, each new culture putting its imprint on the city until it's a multilayered accumulation of culture. And then the final section upends that by showing a redeveloped Hav, with its new rulers trying to graft on a different, purportedly-more-authentic history.
