Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer

5.0

This book is freaking hilarious. Evie Sage is a brilliant hot mess who is causing havoc in the life of her boss The Villain. She’s not the only one who is causing The Villain issues, there is a spy in his office putting lives and livelihoods at risk. Evie,. The Villain, and a cast of colorful characters such as Kingsley, a frog who wears a crown and holds up one word signs like “HALP” round out the office of The Villain and his Malevolent Guards. Evie and The Villain have a great rapport with each other which is part of the problem for The Villain.
Audiobook - Em Eldridge is the sole narrator. She doesn’t change her voice so much when switching between the chapters that change perspective from Evie to The Villain but she does change her tone which works. It kept my attention so I didn’t find myself on mental sidequest while listening.

I read this on Kindle Unlimited and now I have to get a hard copy because I enjoyed it and will definitely want to do a re-read I’m sure when the 3rd book comes out.

Spice Level - None. Daydream looks, flirts and a kiss.
Triggers - Torture, violence, blood, reference to an attempted SA, reference to family violence and death.
