Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak

5.0

Sweet and salty. Max is so loved by monsters and his long-suffering mother. Sendak’s prose is powerful and succinct.

Mother Tongue notes: Shorter/quicker read. This is a good chance to have students describe what they see in the illustrations. Good “Stopp min kropp” message, because Max’s words are immediately obeyed by monsters much bigger than himself.
