Jewel Me Twice by Charish Reid

I honestly thought I was going to love this book, but this was just not what I expected the story to be. For a book surrounding a lot of high stakes robberies it sure was boring. There were times where I had to fight against the urge to skim pages like I don’t know if it was the writing or pacing, but this book felt like a hassle to finish. I actually did like the chemistry between Magnus and Celeste, but that’s all they had, good chemistry and nothing else. The author frames them as a will they won’t they relationship with a deep connection that lasted years, but it is never shown to me. I’m being told that they’re in love with each other but from the words on the pages I’m reading I don’t see or believe it. I was never rooting for them to be together because I simply wasn’t made to care enough about the two. Something just felt off with this book like the the main romance was lacking and the premise that should have been exiting fell completely flat.
