what if i say this is in my top five favorite books of all time

reread 2022
“How can you trust me, after what your own brother did to you?' 'Because he was false,' said Damen. 'and you are true. I think if I gave you my heart, you would treat it tenderly.”

cut to me: screaming crying passing out frothing at the mouth

Damianos, prince of Akielos (fantasy Greece), is the heir to the throne. But when his half-brother seizes power, Damen is captured, and sent to serve the prince of an enemy nation as a pleasure slave. His new master, Prince Laurent, epitomizes the worst of the court at Vere (fantasy France). But in the lethal political web of court, Damen finds himself caught up in a play for the throne. He must work together with Laurent to survive and save his country. But Damen must never reveal his true identity. Because the one man Damen needs is the one man who has more reason to hate him than anyone else.

So! Captive Prince!! A series that I can't believe I never talked about here!! Definitely, one of my favorite series of all time that I now read four times. Also, the series that I read the most fanfiction for. Prince's Gambit and Kings Rising are two books that, honestly, not to be dramatic or anything, fundamentally changed me as a person. Is it trashy? Absolutely. But then again, so am I.
