This was a master-stroke of writing, introducing a different kind of magic system that felt new and familiar at the same time. I loved the characters, and was so invested in what was happening on both the individual and the larger, political level. I somehow missed that this is the first part of a duology, though, so it ended in a way that makes me need - not want, NEED - the next book ASAP. I can't wait until August when it drops!
