The Wingman by Stephanie Archer

5.0

The Wingman is the perfect accomplice on your bookshelf-- it brings all the swoons, banter, growth, and heart.

Stephanie Archer’s writing continues to be absolute dynamite. Earlier this year I had the pleasure of being introduced her to work via The Wrong Mr. Right and The Fake-Out, the latter of which is part of the same series as The Wingman, Vancouver Storm. I have become a massive fan and this new release has further cemented this fact. The writing is clever, engaging, romantic, spicy, and wholly enthralling.

At its heart, this is a love story, and it's one so gorgeously paced. A perfect slow burn, with tantalizing moments that simmer deliciously until the full spicy boil bubbles over. A wonderful mix of spice and sweetness, as we see Darcy and Hayden not only become physically intimate, but emotionally as well. And that, for me, is the most important aspect of romance: not just the physical attraction, but the soul attraction as well. There is no doubt these two are soulmates, who look out for one another, who better one another, who want to see one another blossom. Never holding one another back. And that remains true from beginning to end.

They are terrific leads on their own. Darcy filled me with pride seeing her take the reins of her life and make decisions for herself and no one else. I was so proud of Hayden fighting back against the stereotypes against him and allowing himself to say all the things he kept bottled up. Individually they have beautiful arcs of growth; and together-- they create a romance that is one to forever cherish.

Oh! One more thing! I don’t want to spoil the next book’s couple, but it becomes increasingly apparent as you read along and all I can say is I ate up every single delicious course and, boy, I am so ready for the main course! Let’s go!

If you enjoy sports romances, friends (to roommates!) to lovers, and a total golden retriever boyfriend, then run, don’t walk to The Wingman! You’re going to have an absolute blast!

Thank you to Stephanie Archer for this complimentary copy, I leave this honest voluntarily.
