I loved every second of this book! This book has everything I love in a story. 1) a very good and engaging storyline, 2) admirable characters and a strong female main character, 3) chemistry between characters and 4) it is set in a well thought out and beautiful fantasy world.
Also, I always thought I hated slow burns and I want nothing to do with it. It has always been a deal breaker for me in books. However, I noticed now, because of this book, that it isn't necessarily the slow burn I dislike, but how the slow burn is played out. If nothing happens because both parties go "Oh no, X doesn't see me like that, it can't be" or one party sending all the signs they like the other and they go like "Am I imagining things?" That is what I don't like. In this case, both characters don't hide it they like each other, not at all. They flirt, they tease, but something keeps them from going further and so that, I didn't mind at all.
All in all, this book was sublime and I can't wait to dig in the next one immediately!
