Peter Darling by Austin Chant

4.0

I'm not a fan of retellings, but this particular one is very well crafted and nicely done. Peter comes from a journey of self-discovery, of being saved by fantasy and doomed by it in the end. All the familiar themes are here, as danger, death, loss, grief, and growing. Brief and compelling. I only have issues with some deus-ex-machina happenings, too rushed in some parts, but they were needed for the book to be concise as it is.
