I knew when I was first introduced to Menace's personality that he was a character I needed to know more about. Jahquel has a talent for writing morally grey characters but making them relatable. Menace Casseli was unfortunately forced to become a man without ever completing adolescence, and that shaped the man he became. He is rigid and only makes moves when a plan is in place. When he is presented with the ultimatum to choose a wife and create an heir, Stevie really shouldn't have been his choice. On paper, she is everything he absolutely is NOT. However, sometimes sharp tools need soft polishing.
Stevie and Menace had me hollering from beginning to the end of this book. Their romance was sweet and very natural. I loved them giving each other grace and time, but mostly, I loved Menace's personality.
I came into this book expecting a dark romance of sorts just because of the "kidnapping" element. I'm warning you now that this is not a dark romance. This is a soft and sweet romance about a dark souled ninja.
