King of Scars by @lbardugo
Genre: Fantasy Fiction
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thoughts: HOLY FORKING SHIRTBALLS!! This book was absolutely fantastic, but the last few chapters really sealed the 5 star rating for me.
It’s three years post war, Ravka’s borders are still weakened, the crown is in desperate need of funds, and the pressure to marry and make profitable alliances weighs heavy on Nikolai. As if that wasn’t enough, Nikolai still battles for control over the darkness inside himself despite the help of Zoya, Genya, and David.
Meanwhile Nina Zenik and two other Grisha, Adrik and Leoni, are undercover in Fjerda, helping other Grisha escape the drüskelle and the torturous experiments of the Ice Court. While they hide out in a convent under the guise of traveling merchants, Nina makes an unexpected friend with Hanne, who is secretly Grisha and daughter of a very powerful man. Nina’s new powers draw her to an army base nearby that reveals some very disturbing secrets, and someone from her past she never expected to see again.
Without giving too much of the plot away, KoS continues its wild ride with miracles, Saints, new Grisha powers, and one hugely unexpected plot twist. It’s been hours and I’m still floored. Cannot wait for Rule of Wolves!
