This story showed how persistence, dedication and a stern will allowed Dolly to reach her dreams. Though she was born mulatto, on a plantation in a hut - she didn’t let that stop her.

Injustice, one after another helped her to see that she could do anything she was willing to work harder for. She freed herself, and a number of her family members from slavery.

Mothering 10 children of her own, going through deaths of multiple children, Dolly still made her dreams happen. Not only for herself, but for those connected to her by blood.

It’s not where you come from, it’s where you’re headed - and the decisions you make along the way!
