Nothing but love for this book! I’m so glad I read it. So much complexity and depth to the characters, and so many pieces of their life stories and circumstances that play into the moral dilemmas that are presented. Children can be hard to write, but I was very impressed with the realism of Finch’s character. I really, really enjoyed the setting—a cabin in the woods, every bit of the surroundings, flora and fauna, colourful and alive; the landscape shifting depending on the relevant emotions at hand. Such a well-composed novel and I’d recommend it to anybody!

Trauma/flashbacks from war. Violence, murder and death. Kidnapping. Divorce. Pre-marital pregnancy. Lust/vague sexual references. Kissing, but it never escalates beyond that.
