The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not.
This book was incredible. It was so beautifully written and the story really lured me in and kept me hooked even when I didn’t fully understand it at times. It feels like nothing I’ve ever read before and I really need to reread it at some point!
There were a lot of different POVs and I’m gonna be honest, when I was reading it I didn’t think all of them were equally important. I paid less attention to some things. I am notoriously bad at actually reading the dates beneath the chapter titles. I thought that’d be fine! But I was very wrong. Every single thing in this book was carefully written and planned out. That wasn’t clear to me until the end when all loose ties came together, but the realisation hit me like a truck. Details that I deemed not important were very important. Which is why I think this book may actually be even better if you reread it and are able to see the whole picture as you read it. It’s like a puzzle, all pieces are important but you don’t know how they fit together until you’re done.
I’ve seen some people label this as an “enemies to lovers” romance book but I don’t agree. It is a fantasy book that contains romance and I think “forced rivals to lovers” would be a better description.
”I would have written you, myself, if I could put down in words everything I want to say to you. A sea of ink would not be enough.”
“But you built me dreams instead.”
