So i read to many romantasy in a row and found myself in front of my booshelves looking for something different.

Im glad i picked up this dark fantasy book. I am introduced to a world that is a kingdom, or in fact no longer more than a city that is enveloped by a great dark storm that year by year seems to claim more and more of this kingdom and the people wihin.

We meet  prince Dalca that is doomed to be the next barer of the mighty kings curse when his mother dies to battle and keep the storm at bay. And we meet Vesper the daughter of a revolutionair that used to battle the storm with a magic called ikonomancy. She wants to rescue her father and infiltrates the palace.

Yes there is some hints of romance in here but it is mostly a subplot. The main goal of all the people we meet is to conccour this all consuming storm and darkness in whatever way possible.

These people and the caracters we meet along the way do not only seem to be trapt in this storm but also in an unending loop of decissions made before there time. Revenge and honour seem to proppel them to repeat these patterns and unless they can break this cycle and conccour there own fears they will not master the storm.
