This is book two in the first Assurance Security duet, and follows a pregnant omega who was on the run from a stalker. Tropes and themes include omegaverse, knotting, pregnancy and birth, why choose, stalker, millionaire alphas, marriage of convenience, and mate marks. This book has a fair amount of spice (group/mf only) and dark themes (I.e human trafficking) so please check content warnings.
The Lovely: I enjoyed that we got more tension from the plot as the stakes increased and we learned more of the backstory on this part of the plot. I still love the FMC, Vale, and her tenacity. She’s still doing everything she can to make the situation work. I especially loved when she recognized she had to tamp down her worrying and fears so as to not distract one of the MMCs and thereby put him in danger.
The Mundane: There’s one of the MMCs that legitimately grates on my nerves due to his jealousy and self loathing. Like, sir, you know she comes with a pack. You’re not going to have her to yourself. Unfortunately this jealousy is never really addressed - it just kind of goes away or is ignored in the end.
Rating: 3.5/5 Stars 3/5 Flames
Recommendation: While this duet concludes Vale’s story, I understand there are more books in the series that focus on other related characters. I can see where this duet left the door open to some related plot threads and characters (I need more Ranger). This was a fun and relatively quick read and if you like omegaverse with a focus on the pregnancy trope, I think you might like this duet.
