Lovelight Farms by B.K. Borison
2.0
I have heard nothing but great things about this book and I joined a buddy read on Instagram for it.
First, I tried the audiobook which I very much do not recommend. I did not enjoy the narrator… so much so that I bought the ebook because otherwise I was going to DNF.
Overall, if you enjoy small town friends to lovers romance and enjoy stories in which best friends are secretly into each other, this is fantastic and I can see why it’s so popular.
For me, it wasn’t really my jam. I think trying the first 20% via audiobook didn’t help. I much preferred the book version, but I was already somewhat frustrated by the main characters. I didn’t know what the conflict would be…To me, Luka was clearly just as much into Stella as she was him. I just did not enjoy the way she acted like it was one sided, but she was narrating the story and therefore so obviously noting the moments in which his expression changed or he was paying extra attention or clearing his throat like.. girl are you just blind?
I felt irritated reading, like what am I waiting for other than for these two to grow some courage and communicate? There’s no conflict. Even the whole social media part was very much lacking any sort of stakes. I guess I just feel like nothing happened lol.
Friends to Lovers is just honestly very much something that either works for me or it’s something I hate and this just didn’t work for me.
