The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin
5.0
Benjamin has a deft and subtle hand. The shape of the relationships among the four Gold siblings and how they relate to their own and their family's mortality are so elegantly expressed-- these hard knots of denial and stubbornness and blame, all underscored by the very real love they feel for one another. Benjamin has a way of not always directly stating what's driving her characters. It's there, it's rich, but you have to work a bit for it. I like it when a writer trusts me with that.
