Rogue Wave by Jennifer Donnelly
3.0
Rating: 3.80
Things I liked:
THE COVER!!! It's gorgeous, hats off to the illustrator!
Mahdi and Sera's relationship
Neela's maturation
Most of the plot
I did like this book but not as much as the last one. The beginning of the book was pretty slow and not a lot happened and I found myself being distracted a lot of the time. I had a little problem with the pace because it went from slow to incredibly fast and then back to slow.
I did enjoy the plot but I felt like there were too many twists and turns, I know some people like that but personally I prefer a few twists here and there. This book had one twist after the other and I found myself wishing for things to slow down but that didn't happen because the author threw the characters in one stressful situation, took them out and threw them in another.
*these were my emotions while I was reading. Bored, happy, sad, angry( in a good way), Swoony, happy, anxious, slightly bored, shocked( in a good way at the end)*
Overall I was satisfied.
The characters were enjoyable. Personally I loved the scenes between Mahdi and Sera and I also enjoyed Neela's time with the Askari and in Kandina. The author took her from pampered princess to hardened warrior, with a smooth transition.
Overall I enjoyed this book and I will continue on with the series, I would recommend it to people who love mermaids and adventure.
