Not “read” so much as “spent a couple of weeks playing through”. I played piano growing up, but stopped when I went away to school, and started playing violin instead. My grandfather was a music teacher, so when I finally moved into a flat with an upright piano he sent me up this old set of books he taught me with as a child. He always told me I could colour in the pictures when I finished learning a tune, but I never felt like it was okay to mar the pages. Some of these songs have been stuck in my head for years. I’m so glad I can finally get them out onto the keys again.
