Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

5.0

“You’re a storyteller. Dream up something wild and improbable,” she pleaded. “Something beautiful and full of monsters.”
“Beautiful and full of monsters?”
“All the best stories are.”

Others may be able to relate to the intimidation of beginning a book that latches on to your heart from the first page. During the first few chapters of Strange the Dreamer, I found myself briefly putting it down again and again because it was too much, it felt too good. The kind of good used to describe a gift chosen with care and given with love. Because this isn’t just a story, its a gift. To readers. To dreamers. You’re not sure if you really want to rip into the wrapping and dive in because there’s a loss in knowing that you can only experience it for the first time just that once. But oh, please do. This book is a precious, precious gem. Few others will be able to compare and Laini Taylor will spoil you beyond belief with her lyrical writing and gorgeous world building. It’s beautiful and full of monsters as all the best stories are, and you’ll love it from beginning to end.
