It was fine. I didn't like it as much as I thought I would, especially given the beginning of the book. There was one scene in particular that creeped me out, it was just so wonderfully done. It helped that I was listening to the audiobook, in my bed in the dark room, before sleep, which meant I was completely immersed (Xe Sands did a good job narrating the book). So I had high hopes, especially given that I love dysfunctional families and serial killers and serial killers with dysfunctional families are just cherry on top. In the end, though, I think this story would've been better as a novella because the narration at one point becomes too repetitive to stretch certain reveals, and there's no satisfying payoff for that much nothing. Not to mention, the certain character disappears from the narration and there was no closure on that part of the story, which was by the way an important part of the plot, not some random subplot (also one major question I had regarding the plot was never answered and that thread was left hanging open). The more I listened to the audiobook, the quicker pace I set for the narration, from 1 to 1.05 to 1.25 for the last 9 minutes, just to finish it sooner, which says a lot with my patience in the end.
