Die Seufzende Wendeltreppe by Jonathan Stroud
5.0
This is exactly the kind of cozy, humorous detective story that I love.
It has not only a wonderful cast of characters that I would like to have as co-workers as well, a lot of funny remarks and an interesting case, it also manages to maintain a positive atmosphere without having horrific topics like murder and child abuse portrayed as less serious than they are.
It's only a minor thing but I liked that it had a glossary with words from the ghost hunting profession, so there was no information dump yet I still had all the information availible if needed.
There is also a lot I like about the ending. One point being that it doesn't force you tto read the next part of the series with sn enormous cliffhanger but very nicely hints what could happen next.
This was a wonderful fast paced adventure that still put enough focus on characters and can be enjoyed by young and older readers.
