Lula Dean's Little Library of Banned Books by Kirsten Miller
5.0
This book is said to be satire... but reading this in February 2025 in America, it feels a bit too close to reality. That being said, Lula Dean's Little Library of Banned Books is an incredibly funny, intelligent, heartwarming, and easy to digest political satire about one southern town and the way a loud few begin banning books.
The book demonstrates how a community can come together to fight against book banning and hate by teaching others through sharing those very banned books - even if it did begin as a joke. It also shows some of the inner workings of what led some of the characters to their extremist views as well as the consequences.
This book had me laughing, yelling, and even tearing up. It's a 5 star for me because it made me feel all the feels.
Ps: friendly reminder - only fascists ban books
