To Hold the Bridge by Garth Nix

5.0

This collection of short stories proves that Garth Nix can write well beyond the genre he is most commonly associated with through his Old Kingdom series. The stories range from contemporary fantasy to gritty science fiction to horror. The endings are a mix of upbeat, heartbreaking, and for the reader to decide. As a whole it's not quite as strong as Across the Wall (as in not all the stories felt equally amazing), but it includes excellent stories with a diversity of characters. Definitely worth a read to all Garth Nix fans.

I'd rate this 4.5/5, but since half stars aren't allowable, I've rounded up.
