Miguel Strogoff by Jules Verne
3.0
Mikey Strogonoff!! It's Jules Verne's not well known but still pretty good book. If Jules Verne were Billy Joel it would be his Nylon Curtain and in keeping with the ancient tradition of having a book that's similar to Nylon Curtain, Strogey begins with a vivid description of an industry town. To be clear when I say "vivid description" I mean that mr verne just goes down a list of every ethnicity in the caucuses. It reads like a cringey anthropology paper and it's cool that he put research into this book but also since this book was written years ago, I think it feels a bit outdated. And lets just say that, as our protagonist mike stroganoff travels more eastward, his depictions of people become... less charitable. But still this is fun. It feels like a proto heart of darkness where its less that war is bad and more that the bad guys suck. Honestly it took me longer than I thought to read. It shouldn't have taken me 20 days tbh. Ok im done bye lol.
