I've never read a novella more like a dream. It is poetic in imagery, bizarre in plot, light on character, and left me feeling the impact crator of some glorious, amorphous emotion. An impressionist painting of love.

Although the humor strayed into dorky at times and I had to work to follow the finalé, there are lines in here that Sappho and Neruda alike could be proud of. Some satisfying meditations on the nature and limitations of the written form too. The density of the prose doubled my expected reading time but my night is better for having been transmuted into the liminal state Time War demands.
