The imagery is heavy here as we follow a slave who decides to marronage. As we travel along with him from plantation to forest, we see glimpses of slavery from ships to plantation survival. Chamoiseau's prose is heady, with rich descriptions of landscape and emotion. This reads more like a diary of the mind than a novel.
Graphic: Slavery
Moderate: Death, Violence, and Colonisation
