I cared about the characters but the plot I found super boring. Maybe it's just that I came to this having reread Harry Potter, the Hate u Give and the Giver just before. Excellent books. They made this seem super meh because compared to them or at least for my taste it was meh. However, it wasn't bad by any means. The characters I found really interesting and I was rooting for them, the romance made a lot of sense and I really loved how it was shown that Lyra in the end was just abused rather than evil. Gave a lot of depth to her character. . However, the Saureen tongue was greek words and sentences awfully mispronounced and many time grammatically incorrect as well. As a greek it was super cringy and handled with no care for the language butchering it. Was listening on audiobook and was so confused when some weird noises made sense to me. My language is really melodical and pronounced nothing like what they did for this. Lastly, the end didn't satisfy me. It felt too perfect in a bad way. she literally became half octopus and so as not to be weird the tentacles were described as wings like wtf lol?!?
