Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by Robert B. Cialdini
3.0
Rating: 7/10
Summary: Teaches readers the psychology behind persuasion, organized into 6 principles (reciprocity, commitment and consistency, social proof, likability, authority, and scarcity)
--
Cialdini's writing style is boring and tedious, and the book itself doesn't offer anything new or profound. His stories and examples always seemed like a far stretch and I constantly found myself asking, "Where is he going with this?"
The only reason why I gave it a 7/10 and not a 6/10 is because I do think it can be a valuable read for a younger audience. But if you've taken at least one psychology course in High School or University, or have read at least one book in the field of psychology (aside from this one), then nothing in this book will amaze or surprise you.
