Dark Mode by Ashley Kalagian Blunt
4.0
I will preface this review by saying I kind of ruined the ending for myself. I put the book down when I felt there was a slight lull and had a shower and while showering my brain was ticking and I guessed the ending. I think this wouldn’t have happened if I had of just kept reading? How annoying for me! But, with that being said the end still had shock value.
I found the overall concept of this book so fascinating, teenagers accessing the World Wide Web for the very first time ,and how very quickly things can get dark and disturbing. It was also interesting to see how the story showed just how impactful negative experiences with the internet can be and the trauma associated with these negative interactions. I came out of this book going men are f*****, let me know if you felt the same!
The book was both horrifying and captivating, I couldn’t put it down and read it in the space of a few hours! Highly recommend for those wanting a good psychological thriller.
