Snowdrift by Helene Tursten
3.0
I enjoyed this book, despite having never read the other books in Tursen’s series about Detective Embla Nystrom. The novel started with a persistent nightmare that had bedeviled Nystrom since she was a teenager, one in which she relived the disappearance of her best friend Lollo. As the novel progresses, it turns out that Lollo is connected somehow to Nystrom’s latest murder case, the murder of the Stavic brothers. With the help of “the best-looking cop in Dalsland,” Nystrom untangles all the family relations behind the killings in Sweden and crimes in Croatia and manages to come up a theory of the murders in her district. Tursen does a wonderful job of explaining the different kinds of snow and how they affect a crime scene.
