The Captive Prince is nothing like I'v ever read before! I have to create a new shelf for the book it seems.

Yes I had high hopes with this one going by all the high ratings, thankfully for a change I fall into the popular category this time. I don't recall what I'd been expecting from this book but damn I was pleasantly surprised.

As for the plot the initial 10% or so was a bit difficult, the story and background took me a while to get used to. After that it was a smooth ride and what a ride it was!

Oh God! Laurent, what a character. His mind was a labyrinth of intrigues, maneuvers and manipulations. I was exhausted (in a good way) by the time I finished reading this seeming-ly innocuously short book not because I might have stayed up a better part of the night to finish reading it.

A solid 4.5 starred read for me.

P.S: How could I forget Damen ?!! O.o He is the backbone of the story.
