Can't seem to get into this.
Started it because apparently Disco Elysium was partially inspired by it and I do love a 19th century novel about poor people but these characters just do not do it at all for me. Also weirdly horny for a novel about miners working themselves to death and worrying about every next meal. Étienne kept me reading for this long but I'm not going to force myself to finish it. 
Hope they get their rights.
