The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Rubenhold
1.0
I really wanted to love this one but unfortunately found it dull and repetitive.
I think it’s an important book in that it focuses on the victims rather than the murderer, as they are often ignored or under-explored BUT I just found it tedious and slow.
Also, given that little is known about these women, I found that there was an overuse of supposition. I kept noticing repetition of “it is likely that” or phrases such as “it was purportedly xyz”.
Overall, this definitely was not for me and a DNF 75% of the way through.
