I really loved most of this book. The conflicts of conscience, the shifting loyalties, the reader was being dragged back and forth right along with Touraine. Sometimes the quick back and forth between sides got a little wearying, but I bet it did for the characters as well, and their motives were usually understandable.
I really enjoyed the worldbuilding, and the close connections to real-life colonialism and assimilation made so much sense. The characters were so well delineated and I'm going to be very disappointed if this is the last I get to see of some of them.
I'll definitely read the next book as well, hopefully sometime soon.
