I've certainly read worse books but this comes off as something written by a privileged neoliberal who never worked a difficult job, doesn't understand class relations, and only pities the poor for living in brutal conditions, while defending the capitalists who exploit them, claiming that the working class is ungrateful and the industrialists are only doing the best they can to help them. The romance is also stupid, ripping off of Pride and Prejudice, except neither character is particularly likeable or interesting. It is believable though, with the neoliberal and the capitalist falling in love. I wish Goodreads allowed for half stars because this is a solid 2.5/5.
